Monarch Sky is a female fronted alternative metal group from Edmonton, Canada. The band formed in 2012 and is comprised of Brandy Black on lead vocals, Jason Cullen on guitar / backing vocals, Jeremy Pond on bass guitar, and Mike Belitsky on drums.

Monarch Sky, although currently unsigned, has moved mountains in a short period of time. Since joining forces in 2012, they have headlined out of town shows and local music festivals, they released their EP titled "Embryo" in June 2013, toured western Canada in the summer of 2013 to promote their EP, and were nominated for “Metal Recording Of The Year” for their song “Circles” at the 2013 Edmonton Music Awards.

Their performance is a sight to be witnessed live; Monarch Sky shares a powerful connection on stage both musically and lyrically. Their sound has been compared to a mix between Evanesence and Tool, with some musical influences being Tool, Chevelle, Deftones, Lacuna Coil...etc

Recorded back in December 2012 at Two Bodies Of Water Productions, "Circles" was Monarch Sky's first single.  "Circles" became track #2 on their EP "Embryo" which was released on June 29th, 2013. "Circles" has become a favorite among fans and has been played on several radio stations and podcasts across Canada including Edmonton's own CJSR, and more recently Vancouver's CJSF.

New Transcendence CD Review:

"Monarch Sky is a female-fronted hard rock band based out of Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. Their Facebook states that the music is powered by “edgy guitar riffs, melodic vocals, heavy drum fills, and euphonious bass undertones” and they did not disappoint on the debut EP Embryo. The vocal work by lead singer Brandy is a voice that is raw, powerful, and just hypnotizing. The instrumental work accompanying the vocals is stellar and can easily rival some of the bigger bands out there today. Each track has a feel to it that drew me in deeper and deeper with every riff, cymbal crash, and word sung. Giving off vibes of a Tool/Evanescence combo band, Monarch Sky is a band to check out and look out for. With support and

work, this band could be the next big thing in the hard rock genre.

Verdict: 9/10" -Hector (New Transcendence)
