Short Bio:

Since joining forces in October 2012, Monarch Sky has been taking the Edmonton metal scene by storm. With the combination of Brandy Black’s powerful melodic vocals contrasted with guitarist Jason Cullen’s and bassist Jeremy Pond’s heavy screams, they forge a unique vocal harmony laid upon a bed of raw metal. Drummer Mike Belitsky completes the force with a heavy rhythmic backbone, and as a unit they create a sound like no other.

Long Bio:

Since joining forces in October 2012, Monarch Sky has been taking the Edmonton metal scene by storm. With the combination of Brandy Black’s powerful melodic vocals contrasted with guitarist Jason Cullen’s and bassist Jeremy Pond’s heavy screams, they forge a unique vocal harmony laid upon a bed of raw metal. With a variation of influences including bands such as Chevelle, Tool, Machine Head, Nine Inch Nails...etc. Monarch Sky combines a perfect contradiction of melody and discord. The method to their madness began with Black fusing her dark impassioned lyrics with Cullen’s heavy guitar riffs. The first song they wrote together was “Circles” which was also their first single they released and a favorite among fans. They wrote the song together before they even met by recording and sending each other’s musical pieces via email. After only their first rehearsal with Belitsky and former bassist James Seabrook they knew they had a unique combination that somehow worked. Seabrook left the group after their first tour in 2013 due to musical differences and his focus on his recording studio “Two Bodies Of Water”. Shortly after James left the group, Monarch Sky was graced with the presence of bassist Jeremy Pond who had previously played with Cullen in Edmonton’s hard rock group “Fear Of City”. Pond, Cullen, and Belitsky work well together to create a heaviness that doesn’t overpower Black’s dominant vocals.

Monarch Sky, though currently unsigned, has independently achieved success on many levels. They’ve released 2 studio EPs (Embryo 2013, Sound Of Flight 2015), toured Western Canada (Embryo Tour 2013), and they were nominated for an Edmonton Music Award for their first single “Circles” (Best Metal Recording 2013). They have played noted music
festivals (Farmageddon, Dragonfly Festival, Heart Of The City, Heartland Bash...etc), have been in rotation on many radio stations around the world, and have headlined many local and non local shows. In the summer of 2014, Monarch Sky ran a successful Indiegogo crowdfunding campaign to raise funds to record their new album “Sound Of Flight” exceeding
their goal. They were later featured in Vue Weekly Magazine in January 2015 in connection to the release of the album (released January 30, 2015).

With the recent release of “Sound Of Flight” Monarch Sky is currently planning another Western Canadian tour for the Summer of 2015. They are also planning a music video for a song from the new album yet to be announced.
